"Becoming"

Often my hands are one step ahead of my heart. 
Originally this collection was supposed to be a mini-series on still-life paintings, but every time I picked up the brush, a new landscape with a bold story came alive. 
This collection, much like the others before it, marks an important chapter in my life. Its story is one I believe many will resonate with and I am honoured to share my heart in this way. 
This collection embodied the journey of becoming one's highest self: the version of you that you were always made to be. 
It's a balance of rough, unknown edges where a story is seen but the details are still a bit blurry. It's vibrant coloured undertones, are met with muted softer colours: a merging of what was and what will be.
Within the change, there is pressure and pain, regardless of how beautiful the change might be.
As a body of work, this collection was created to mark a transformation: pieces that speak of newness, unknown, and becoming the version of self always designed to be. 
Technically, this collection also pushes the edges of my style into something a little more abstract. Impressions of landscapes meet rough-edged lines and quicker, less subtle brush strokes. Layers on layers of washes create the illusion of depth. Each of these style changes points back to the story of the collection, of newness, unknown, but something very beautiful.
