There’s something special about the quiet moments—the ones that catch us off guard, where clarity seems to settle in like the rising sun. Peach Tree Pottery was born from one of those moments, in a season of my life where I felt lost, exhausted, and unsure of what was next.
For years, I followed a path that felt safe and practical. I was a teacher, pouring myself into a job that, while meaningful, left me drained. Life had become mundane, and deep down, I knew something wasn’t right. When the world slowed down at the beginning of the COVID lockdowns, I finally had space to sit with those feelings.
One morning, wrapped in a blanket with a coffee in hand, I sat outside, watching the sun rise over the apple trees in our yard. I was in prayer, asking why I felt so tired, so disconnected from joy. And in that stillness, I felt God speak to my heart:
“I’ve built an orchard. I’ve designed you to be unique—yes, the apple tree is important. But I’ve made you unique and different to add variety to my orchard… I’ve made you a peach tree…”
In that moment, it all made sense. I had spent so long trying to fit into a role that wasn’t truly mine—following in the footsteps of my mother, choosing a secure and reliable career, trying to be what I thought I should be. But deep down, I wasn’t an apple tree. I was a peach tree.
I was meant to create, to embrace the uniqueness that had always been inside me. I wasn’t designed to fit a mold; I was designed to bring something different into the world. And being myself—a peach tree—would allow me to live the life I was made for.
When I later shared this analogy with my husband, it became a defining moment. And when I started selling my pottery, there was no question—Peach Tree Pottery was the name it was meant to have.
Peach Tree Pottery is a reflection of that truth: that we are all created uniquely, meant to embrace the life designed for us. It’s a celebration of those little moments—the morning coffee, the quiet reflection, the beauty in handmade things. No two pieces of my pottery are exactly alike, just as no two of us share the same story.
At its heart, Peach Tree Pottery exists to bring warmth and beauty into everyday life, to remind us that we are known and loved by a God who sits with us in the orchard while we sip our coffee, welcoming us to be exactly who we are.
